The California State University, Dominguez Hills Foundation was incorporated in 1968 as a partner of the University to provide services and develop and enhance programs that are an integral part of the University's educational mission. CSU Dominguez Hills is a highly diverse, metropolitan university primarily serving the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. Established in 1960, CSU Dominguez Hills is one of the 23 campuses that comprise the California State University system. 

 Position Information 

Employment at the Foundation is on an at-will basis and can be terminated by either an employee or the Foundation at any time with or without cause or advanced notice. Permanent status can neither be obtained nor granted. 

This is a Full-time, non-exempt, benefited position employer-sponsored health, dental vision, life insurance, retirement program and vacation pay.  

Hourly Rate of Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 

Purpose of Position 

To support the implementation of all tutoring projects: Project Reach, RISE, CVTT, SELF, and H.I.T. The support specialist will assist the project manager with the implementation of these projects. 

Primary Position Responsibilities 

Specialist Recruitment and Selection  

  • Assist in the development of innovative recruitment strategies, including the development of recruitment materials, such as flyers, brochures, advertisements, blast email communication, etc. 

  • Support recruitment strategies, such as conducting classroom presentations, posting on social media, presenting on and off-campus, coordinate tabling efforts, attend scheduled fairs and events, scheduling of presentations for individual campus departments, etc.  

Tutor Hiring  

  • Assist in reviewing incoming applications for selection  

  • Assist in scheduling CSUDH Live Scans and coordinate background checks with Foundation  

  • Follow-up and track applicant progress to ensure Live Scan, background, and TB completion  

  • Assist in communicating on a regular basis with partner school districts’ Human Resources departments for district Live Scan and scheduling  

  •  Schedule cleared applicants for next hiring steps, including orientation  

  • Update Assistant Coordinator on applicant progress  

Event Planning and Support  

  • Assist in the organization and planning of Tutor hiring fairs, orientations, and special events throughout the semester  

Reporting | Data Maintenance  

  • Assist in updating a comprehensive information system to track and document all Toro Tutors applicants from application to employment  

  • Assist in maintaining a comprehensive information system to document all meetings and special events  

  • Review and assist in updating participant files on a regular basis  


  • Ensure smooth, efficient, and professional operations of all payroll functions at all times  

  • Update all payroll related documents in a timely manner and disseminate to all tutors  

  • Coordinate and communicate regularly with CSUDH Foundation Human Resources regarding payroll  

  • Track and monitor tutor timesheet and approve tutor payroll through Paychex  

  • Communicate with tutors regarding payroll questions and concerns General  

  • Provide friendly and prompt customer service to all tutor programs  

  • Attend meetings, as needed  

  • Perform other duties as assigned  

Minimum Qualifications 

  • At least 1 year of professional administrative work experience  

  • HS Diploma or equivalent (e.g., G.E.D.)  

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Google-based applications  

  • Flexible schedule  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • 

  • Customer service experience  

Ability to  

  • Work in a team environment  

  • Work in a fast-paced environment
