The California State University, Dominguez Hills Foundation was incorporated in 1968 as a partner of the University to provide services and develop and enhance programs that are an integral part of the University's educational mission. CSU Dominguez Hills is a highly diverse, metropolitan university primarily serving the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. Established in 1960, CSU Dominguez Hills is one of the 23 campuses that comprise the California State University system.

About the Position
California State University, Dominguez Hills Foundation
This position works directly with the Chef in assisting with daily production of the restaurant line. This position also assists the lead cook and/or chef in the prep of foods for distribution in all areas of Campus Dining Services including: DH Catering, Club 1910, Union Grind Coffee, Toro Take Out and DH Sports Lounge.
Essential Job Functions
Works the restaurant cooks line for shift/shifts assigned.
Responsible to prepare food items for their assigned area, following the chefs timelines.
Assist chef, in the daily preparation of food items.
Personal are responsible, of prepping ingredients, for cook lines and events following the responsibilities (chart/list) or Chef’s daily assignments.
Each employee is responsible for maintaining their own work area.
Must maintain their area per Campus Dining Standards and the LA County Health Department guidelines.
Each employee is responsible to report any unsanitary conditions to management immediately, so that the correction can be completed in a timely manner.
Must understand the standards of food safety in regards to temperatures, food handling and proper use of kitchen tools.
One year prior cook experience
Serve Safe Certification
Ability and willingness to work irregular hours, in include weekends and evenings.
Multi-tasking in the position is essential.
Ability to develop successful working relationships with customers and staff.
Must have regular full or part time attendance per scheduled shift.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
Must be able to work under strenuous conditions; the kitchen often times gets very busy and commands that each employee be able to work calmly and efficiently.
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. while performing the service and set up duties for each event. This may include deliveries to other parts of the campus as well as off campus.
Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor(s).
Participate in all scheduled Campus Dining Service events and programs as assigned.
Multi tasking is necessary in all kitchens.
