About the CSUDH Foundation
The California State University, Dominguez Hills Foundation was incorporated in 1968 as a partner of the University to provide services and develop and enhance programs that are an integral part of the University's educational mission. CSU Dominguez Hills is a highly diverse, metropolitan university primarily serving the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. Established in 1960, CSU Dominguez Hills is one of the 23 campuses that comprise the California State University system.

The California STEM Institute for Innovation and Improvement-- CSI3--is dedicated to providing future and current CSI3 teachers with a combination of educational experienced geared to prepare them for 21st Century Learners. Through all of its programs, CSI3 is systematically addressing the shortage of STEM Teachers in high-need schools in and around the Los Angeles area and across the state. CSI3 has developed innovative undergraduate, credential, graduate, and specialized programs, and has formed multiple partnerships with high-need schools and school districts as well as community colleges.

About the Position

The job of CTA Student Assistant was established for the purpose/s of supporting the Compton Toros Academy, it’s coordinators, tutors, students, and community stakeholders with specific responsibility for the routine implementation of the program on Saturdays. The Compton Toros Academy provides Compton Unified School District students with a Saturday tutoring program that promotes college-readiness and provides supplemental academic support to students. The Student Assistant role is responsible for the clerical and logistical aspect of running a school site off campus, recruiting k-12 students, and directly supporting the role of the site Coordinator and the Lab School Administrator. They are directly responsible for the day-to-day duties of their assigned site They are responsible for maintaining online candidate and student attendance databases.

Position Information
Employment at the Foundation is on an at-will basis and can be terminated by either an employee or the Foundation at any time with or without cause or advanced notice. Permanent status can neither be obtained nor granted.

Salary Range
$11.00 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating between the Program Administrator and the Site Coordinators.
  • Tracking attendance for participants and for staff payroll purposes.
  • Recruiting K-12 students by: tabling at school event, conducting classroom presentations, making phone calls, creating and distributing promotional flyers, assisting with parent informational sessions, and managing social media sites.
  • Maintaining inventory and filling supply/copy requests for their assigned school site.
  • Maintaining a folder with legal documentation, student applications, etc.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
